Five concept sites, each built from scratch.

I invented each business and built its site to show what I can build for yours. No two share a typeface or a layout.

Petrak & Daughter

A family tire shop on Kenmore Boulevard, in five pages.

Five pages for a three-generation tire shop. The headlines are tall capitals like a shop sign, on vulcanized black with one crayon yellow, and there are no photographs: the tire, the wheel and the brick wall are all drawn in code.

Ives, Barber

One chair on Front Street in Marietta, five appointments a day.

Five pages for a one-chair barber. Clean, tight lettering sits on warm white paper with a pale surgical blue, and the barber’s own handwriting is on every card and slip.

Panel Forge

A comic shop on Madison Avenue in Lakewood, built as one comic issue.

Six pages for a comic shop, and every page is part of one issue. It’s lettered like a comic on newsprint, with the colors printed a hair out of line the way old comics were, and I drew the character art, the logo and eleven covers for it.

Kovach & Vela

A music law firm upstairs on Waterloo Rd in Cleveland, in five pages.

Five pages for a music law firm, set on the powder-coated pink of a turntable with black vinyl and cream label paper, and each lawyer gets a record sleeve instead of a photograph.

Fade House

A barbershop in Akron, on one page.

One page for a four-chair barbershop, in coal, bone and gold. The headline stacks one line solid, one in outline and one in gold over a dark photograph, and the prices are set like a restaurant menu.

Every business on this page is a concept. The names, people, addresses and phone numbers are invented; the design and the code are real. Open any live site and use it the way a customer would.
